BASILDON continue their push for the London Three Essex title at home to Campion tomorrow.

Table-topping Basildon have triumphed in each of their last 10 games.

But fly-half Sam Ridley insists he is taking nothing for granted ahead of this weekend’s clash despite Campion sitting second from bottom in the standings.

“Despite their position in the league Campion are always a strong outfit,” said Ridley.

“They’ve had a few good wins this season against some tough opposition so we expect them to come to us wanting to win and push us until the end.

“We beat them earlier on in the season so they’ll also have a point to prove and will want nothing less than a win.”

Basildon head into this weekend’s match sitting nine points clear of second placed Millwall.

The league leaders ground out a 28-22 win against East London last time out having previously won 17-15 at Upminster.

And Ridley remains pleased to have helped Basildon secure their narrow victories.

“We fully expected the past few games to be tough ones,” said Ridley.

“The conditions have been poor over the last few weeks so that hasn’t helped but to come away with wins is only a positive. A sign of a good team is being able to find a way to win games when you’re not playing at your best, so to keep our winning streak going is a huge positive.”

And Ridley also insists that means Basildon will be heading into the game this weekend on a huge high.

“We’re a very tight group of players and we are confident going into every game,” said Ridley.

“We sit top of the table for a reason but we will approach the game the same as any other, making sure we train hard and feel 100 per cent prepared when it comes to match day.”

“With only five games remaining we are looking at nothing less than promotion.”
