DANNY Cleare will make his first start of the season when Rochford Hundred host Romford & Gidea Park in London Two North East tomorrow.
Cleare has been out of action with a groin injury since the summer.
But Rochford’s director of rugby Chris Green is looking forward to welcoming him back into the team this weekend.
“Danny has done a great job on the coaching side for us this season, but it will be great to have another experienced head out there playing,” said Green.
“He will be playing at 13 and is part of a very strong team we’ve named.
“I think we have nine players coming back from the last game and we’re looking for a strong performance ahead of our important cup game next weekend.”
Ben Johnson, Craig Strachan, Adam Ferrier, Sam Fombo, Tom Ashton and Matt Stewart are among those back in the starting line-up tomorrow.
But Green insists table-topping Rochford will not be taking sixth-placed Romford for granted.
“Romford drew with Wanstead in their last game, so they’re also a strong side,” said Green.
“But we’re just focusing on ourselves.”
>CANVEY Island host Maldon in London Three Essex tomorrow.
The Islanders are fifth in the table, three points and one place higher than Maldon.
