BILLERICAY Town lost their first away match of the season as Leiston came from behind to secure victory in the Isthmian Premier League clash.
Although Adam Cunnington put Town ahead, it wasn’t enough as the Suffolk side netted three times to secure the points.
Town found themselves on the back foot inside the first five minutes and Matt Blake’s early effort flew inches past the post.
But five minutes later Billericay had the lead. Having sent an early lob wide Cunnington slid the ball into the corner of the net to put the league favourites ahead.
Sam Deering, excellent in the 5-0 win against Lowestoft Town on Tuesday, almost found his man on more than one occasion with a dangerous delivery.
But Leiston, still hopeful of a play-off place, came close to getting back into the clash on the half hour.
A low strike from Seb Dunbar looked destined for the corner but it whistled just past the post.
The hosts were becoming increasingly frustrated – with three yellow cards issued before the break.
But Leiston were to hit back on 45 minutes. After a number of efforts were well blocked, Joe Jefford equalised with a header from close range.
Home goalkeeper Marcus Garnham kept out substitute Robbie Evans and Dan Waldren as Town cranked up the heat.
Dean Inman was then halted by the excellent Garnham before Leiston turned the game on its head.
Mills netted from close range with 25 minutes remaining and they stretched their advantage.
An uncharacteristic error from goalkeeper Alan Julian was picked up on by Chris Henderson and he slotted into the corner.
Billericay Town: Julian, Kizzi, Urquhart, Swaine (Evans 46’), Inman, Waldren (Bricknell 66’), Butcher, Deering, Rooney (Watt 46’), Cunnington, Robinson
