BILLERICAY Town boss Glenn Tamplin has threatened to sack himself if his side lose their FA Trophy quarter-final clash with Wealdstone on Saturday.

The Isthmian Premier League club were condemned to their second consecutive defeat when they lost 2-1 to Folkestone Invicta last night.

It is the first time this season that Town have suffered back-to-back Isthmian Premier League defeats, having lost 3-1 at Leiston on Saturday.

Billericay welcome Wealdstone to the AGP Arena this weekend, with a place in the semi-finals of the FA Trophy up for grabs.

And Tamplin, whose side saw off Harrogate Town in the last round of the competition, took to Twitter to state that he will walk away from the managerial hotseat if Billericay are knocked out of the FA Trophy on Saturday.

Tamplin tweeted: “Truly sorry all at BTFC I’m embarrassed now with my players as I’m their manager.

“Lose Saturday when it really matters I will sack myself and actually considering it now depending on answers from players on something I’ve put to them be interesting if they do the right thing.”

Tamplin's frustration comes just days after the club owner told the Echo he was concerned by recent low attendances, where he claimed the club would not survive without a vast improvement.
