THE MATCH: Canvey Island head to Potters Bar Town looking to put some distance between themselves and their promotion rivals.

Canvey sit three points above Potters Bar Town after the Hertfordshire side were deducted three points yesterday for fielding an ineligible player.

Comfortable 3-0 winners in the reverse fixture, Potters Bar have been beaten by Aveley and lost against Mildenhall Town in their last two matches - both fixtures they may have been expected to win.

Canvey were 2-1 winners against Maldon & Tiptree last weekend, another side with play-off ambitions.

But they must match that performance, with tests against AFC Hornchurch and Heybridge Swifts to come in the weeks ahead.

THE INSIGHT: “We had a big week and we came through last Saturday and I was really pleased with that,” said boss Danny Heale. “We took our chances and I can’t speak higher of the players and the mental strength they showed.

“We are back in the mix and we need something from this game too in my eyes. We have Hornchurch and Heybridge Swifts coming up too and we will be ready for them.

“I didn’t think there was much between us and Potters Bar on the day [Canvey lost 3-0] and the result flattered them.

“I played there a few years ago and we will have to roll our sleeves up as they are a good outfit.”

THE TEAM NEWS: George Allen joins from East Thurrock on a dual registration deal. Defender Elliott Warren is a doubt.
