Tom Conlon’s loan spell at Billericay Town could be over after just one match.

The midfielder moved to Billericay from League Two Stevenage on February 20, playing his first game for the Isthmian Premier League club just 24 hours later.

However, the 75 minutes he played in the 2-1 defeat at Folkestone Invicta appears to be all he will play in a Town shirt.

And head coach Harry Wheeler confirmed he was in talks with his parent club Stevenage about ending the injury-hit 22-year-old’s spell at the club, which had originally been set to last 28 days.

“Tom came in and he had a slight injury,” said Wheeler.

“Some lads struggle to adapt to the mental side of things when it comes to non-league football.

“He is still around but we are in discussions with Stevenage about him potentially going back.

“Sometimes the style of play doesn’t suit a player and that is the way it is.”
