Hemel Hempstead Town 2-0 East Thurrock United
(Parkes 33’, Watt 42’)
From Vauxhall Road
National League South
EAST Thurrock United’s three match unbeaten run was brought to an end at Hemel Hempstead Town.
Rocks had drawn the last three and were looking for the points that would help secure their league status this season.
Home goalkeeper Laurie Walker was called upon first to make a smart stop with his legs, and Lukas Lidakevicius was required up the other end shortly afterwards.
The East Thurrock keeper kept out Jordan Parkes but there was nothing he could do to stop the opener from the Hemel captain.
On the half hour the ball was worked to Parkes on the end of the penalty area and he lashed into the top corner.
Three minutes before half-time it was to get worse for Rocks. On-loan Billericay Town striker Sanchez Watt collected a ball in the area and tucked into the corner.
Hemel had chances to extend their lead after the break before a bizarre bit of refereeing which saw Watt shown a red card only for it to be reduced to a yellow card 60 seconds later.
And Rocks were unable to get back into the match, going down 2-0 in the end.
East Thurrock United: Lidakevicius, Sammons, Knott, Burns, Clark, White, Harris, Christou, Higgins, Agyemang, Smith
