SOUTHEND United boss Chris Powell and right-back Jason Demetriou have both been nominated for monthly League One awards.

Powell won three of his four games in charge during February to be named on a four man shortlist for manager of the month.

However, he faces stiff competition to pick up the prize as Plymouth Argyle manager Derek Adams won all five of his games during the month and so did Rotherham United chief Paul Warne.

Blackburn Rovers manager Tony Mowbray – who won four won and drew one of his six games in February – completes the shortlist.

Shrimpers right-back Demetriou enjoyed a month to remember, scoring three goals in four games while also helping to secure two clean sheets to be nominated for player of the month.

Blackburn striker Adam Armstrong – who netted four goals in five games has also been nominated along with Plymouth’s Ruben Lamerias and Rotherham United’s Joe Newell.

The midfield duo both netted two goals in five games for their respective sides.

The winners of both awards will be announced on Friday.
