DANNY Waldren has called on Billericay Town to use title rivals Dulwich Hamlet’s form as inspiration to lead to them to Isthmian Premier League glory.

Dulwich scored an injury-time winner against Leatherhead on Wednesday to keep them in touch with Town with just three matches remaining.

Billericay visit sixth placed Margate tomorrow looking to further endorse their promotion credentials.

And captain Waldren believes the pressure applied by Dulwich is keeping Town on their toes.

“It is gutting they got that late goal but it keeps us on our toes and that is very important,” said Waldren.

“We are keeping an eye on their results and while a draw would have been good for us they are showing a champion spirit by grinding out results.

“The same can be said for us and we need to match it and more. While I would love to have the league wrapped up by now I love having so much to play for. The Dulwich result has fuelled us and we should be inspired by it.

“They want the title but we need to show we want it more.”

Town played Needham Market last night bidding to restore their advantage at the top to four points.

Margate have watched Billericay play twice since they last took to the pitch and need the points in their hunt for a play-off place.

But Waldren said he would rather play teams with plenty to play for in the final week of term as he looks to overcome a flu bug ahead of the run-in.

“We need to do the business in a massive week for the club,” he said.

“I have had a flu bug for a few weeks and I haven’t been able to shake it off but my body feels fine.

“Personally, I find it more difficult against teams that have nothing to play for. That applied with Wingate & Finchley last week and they wanted it just as much as us. We cannot let complacency creep in and I will tell the boys that.

“We got a huge result against Dorking in the week and we need to be mentally prepared for this.”

THE PREVIEW: Billericay head to play-off hopefuls Margate knowing victory is paramount if they are to maintain the upper hand in the title race ahead of the final week of the season.

Town beat Needham Market 5-0 on Thursday and know victory against the Kent side would give them a significant boost heading into the last two games of term.

But Margate are a dangerous opponent. Having taken a point away from the AGP Arena, dropped points in their last two matches mean they need a return from their final two games - against Billericay and Dulwich Hamlet.

However, they have watched Town play twice in a week they have had free and will come into the clash refreshed and determined to hold off the challenge of Leiston and Leatherhead in the race for the play-offs.

Margate will have a say in which way the title goes one way or another.

MEN TO WATCH: Margate have goals running through their team although former Concord Rangers marksman Jordan Chiedozie is the biggest threat. He has 29 league goals so far this season.

WHEN & WHERE: Tomorrow at 3pm, Hartsdown Park, Hartsdown Road, Margate, CT9 5QZ.

WHAT THE BOSS SAID: “Every game is the biggest game of the season,” said head coach Harry Wheeler. “Margate are a good attacking team and it will be tricky for us. We expect that and they have had a break so we just have to get on with it.”
