Soham Town Rangers 0–2 Bowers & Pitsea
(Nyanja 86’, 90’)
From Julius Martins Lane
Isthmian North
FAHAD Nyanja climbed off the bench to inspire Bowers & Pitsea to a crucial three points in the race for Isthmian North promotion.
The winger scored twice in the last five minutes to keep Bowers in charge in their bid for a top two place.
It was a game that looked as though the first goal would never come.
David Knight forced an early save out of Josh Pope in the home goal and Jamie Dicks then nodded a header wide of the post.
Bowers were having the better of the chances and Adalberto Pinto sent another strike down the throat of Pope in a first half that offered little.
Soham, who were enjoying a good end to the season, were being well marshalled by the Bowers backline but clear-cut chances were thin on the ground.
On 55 minutes, Knight’s corner was met by Callum Leahy but his header was well cleared off the line.
Knight and Fahad Nyanja sent shots past the post of Pope and two more efforts were ruled out for offside.
But then the drama. On 86 minutes, Pinto fed Knight who crossed for Nyanja to race in and score.
Nyanja picked up the pieces after Knight had been denied to make it 2-0 and complete a memorable afternoon.
Bowers & Pitsea: Chafer, Boswell, Clark, Stokes, Easterford, Leahy, Pinto, Sartain (Nyanja 53’), Knight, Vyse (Hughes 68’), Dicks
