DANNY Waldren has urged the Billericay Town faithful to come out in their numbers and cheer their team to a league title tonight.

A Town victory against Harlow Town in the Isthmian Premier League tonight would see them promoted as champions to the National League South.

And, just more than six years since their last promotion to the second tier of non-league football, the Billericay skipper says everyone at the club will be doing everything possible to make today a day to remember in the club’s history.

“This is our night to do it and for me it is all about tonight,” said Waldren. “On paper it should be done but we know the game is not as easy as that.

“We should win the game and we are determined to do just that. If we apply ourselves in the correct way and play the same way we did on Saturday then we will win the match.

“Any team in this league poses a threat to us and I know Harlow have some talented players, with several loan players from higher divisions also.

“We can talk about them all day but in my mind there is no doubt who is the better team and we need to go out there and prove that.

“We can only beat ourselves tonight.

“The fans were unbelievable on Saturday and they have been all season. When we were 1-0 down all you could hear were our fans and that kept us going.

“Even when we had a sticky patch they stuck with us and now we want to reward them with a league title. We need them to be our 12th man again and help us over the line.”

Town defeated Margate 2-1 on Saturday to move to within a victory of the league title.

For the first time in a long while Billericay will not need to look at other results tonight, in the knowledge they will be champions with one win from their last two matches.

Waldren has already lifted the Essex Senior Cup and the Velocity Trophy this campaign.

And while he believes it wouldn’t be a catastrophe if Town didn’t win the title tonight, he says it wouldn’t be far from one.

“If we don’t win tonight it would not be catastrophic but it wouldn’t be far from that, in my opinion,” he said. “We need to be on it and we are determined to win it today.”
