SOUTHEND United manager Chris Powell successfully completed the London Marathon but has vowed never to run one again.
Powell dug deep to complete the 26.2 mile course in the scorching sunshine.
But the Blues boss - who has now raised more than £8,000 for Prostate Cancer UK - insists he will not put himself through it again.
“The marathon was horrific,” smiled Powell.
“It was brutal and I’m not doing that ever again.
“Fair play to the people who keep on doing it but there’s no chance I will.
“Never again for me, I’m done.”
Powell completed the marathon - which took place in the hottest ever conditions - in five hours, 32 minutes and 56 seconds.
But, once he recovers, the 48-year-old is relishing playing a more active part in training.
“I had kept away from training with the players recently because I didn’t want to get injured so I’m looking forward to doing that again,” said Powell.
“The way I’m feeling at the moment though, it might take a little while before I’m able to do it!”
