SOUTHEND United legend Adam Barrett cannot wait to recall some of his favourite Shrimpers memories this week.

Barrett will be joined by Steve Tilson, Freddy Eastwood, Mark Gower and Kevin Maher at the Arlington Ballroom this Friday to look back on Blues’ 2006 League One winning campaign.

And the popular former defender is looking forward to the night, which is being put on to raise funds for Havens Hospices.

“It’s going to be great meeting up with a number of friends and looking back on what was a special time for me and for the football club,” said Barrett.

“It’s all for a great cause as well, which makes it extra special and I’ve done a few things in the past to help Havens so I’m pleased to be doing this as well.

“Since the night was confirmed I’ve been thinking back to the games we had and it’s brought back so many good memories.

“We had so many great matches that season and to end up as League One champions was a fantastic achievement.

“I’m sure this night is going to bring back even more memories and I’m really looking forward to seeing the other lads and also the fans that are going to be there as well.”

Barrett joined Blues in 2003 and played a huge part in Tilson’s team winning back-to-back promotions, which included the League One title triumph.

Freddy Eastwood was also instrumental in the success.

And the striker is excited to be looking back at his time with Blues.

“It was a great time back then and there were so many games and moments to remember,” said Eastwood.

“It was brilliant and the spirit we had played a huge part in what we achieved so it’s going to be great going over those memories and some of my goals, of course!”

The VIP area for the event, which is being sponsored by Trade Price Cars, has now sold out.

But there are still a few tickets remaining elsewhere.

Tickets have been priced at £42.50 + VAT, which includes a welcome drink and an extensive buffet.
