MICHAEL Timlin and Marc-Antoine Fortune have both left Southend United.

The duo were among those the Shrimpers had originally been planning to discuss new deals with

But neither of them will now be at Roots Hall next season.

Timlin joined the Shrimpers on a permanent basis in January 2012 after two previous spells on loan and made 262 appearances for the club.

The 33-year-old midfielder played a key part in Blues’ promotion from League Two in 2015 and will be best remembered for scoring in the play-off semi-final second leg against Stevenage just days after suffering a sickening clash of heads.

Experienced striker Fortune has spent the last two seasons with the Shrimpers after a successful trial period.

The 36-year-old scored 10 goals in 76 games for Blues.
