MMA: Mike Hales cannot wait to be heading back into the cage.

The 22-year-old from Canvey Island will be facing American Anthony Taylor at York Hall later this month.

And Hales is already looking forward to the fight.

“I can’t wait to get back out there,” said Hales.

“My last fight was last year due to complications but I’m buzzing for this step up and to prove I’m a top contender.

“The American guy I’m fighting also happens to have the same ‘Pretty Boy’ nickname as me so I’m ready to show him there’s only room for one in this division.”

Hales’ fight will take place on Thursday June 28.

And he feels ready for action after switching his training to Ireland where he works alongside UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor under the guidance of his coach John Kavanagh.

Hales made the move in January and believes he is already starting to enjoy the benefits.

“Training has been perfect,” said Hales.

“I’m training at SBG in Ireland with the best in the business and I feel like I’m improving day by day!

“Being in Ireland has been great and I’m glad I made this move.

“It’s been best decision. I’m on the path all the way to the top and no one can stop me.”

And the unbeaten Hales feels that will include Taylor when they meet on the BAMMA fight night.

“This show will be a great and so will this fight,” said Hales.

“There’s loads of trash talking between us and I can’t wait to bounce his head off the canvas.”

Hales is also on the look out for new sponsors ahead of his latest fight.
