BENFLEET skipper Rob Zammit is keen to get his side back on track at Westcliff this weekend.

Benfleet - who are fourth in the Division Three standings - suffered a seven wicket defeat against Old Brentwoods last weekend after being bowled out for just 94.

But Zammit has told his team not to dwell on the defeat and instead focus on producing an improved performance tomorrow.

“Last week was last week,” said Zammit.

“We don’t want to dwell on something we can’t change.

“The lads are focused on getting another positive result in this weekend’s game.”

Westcliff sit immediately below Benfleet in the standings and also suffered defeat last weekend, losing by 16 runs against Basildon.

But Zammit believes Westcliff will be difficult opponents tomorrow.

“We are expecting another tough game,” said Zammit.”

“Westcliff have a number of good players but to be the best you have to beat the best and we back ourselves in every game.”

Basildon’s win against Westcliff last weekend was their first in 51 weeks.

But skipper Liam Rouse is keen to make it two victories in a row when they travel to Stanford le Hope this weekend.

“They have not started well but hopefully we want to carry it on,” said Rouse.

“We have more availability and we have a few back so it is not as bad.”

Stanford sit second from bottom in the table with 18 points from four games, below Basildon who are seventh with 47 points to their name.
