BILLERICAY Town have retained 10 first-team players ahead of their National League South campaign next season.

Captain Danny Waldren, 57 goal Jake Robinson and goalkeeper Alan Julian are among the 10 names retained by manager Harry Wheeler.

Defenders Dean Inman - the club’s record signing at more than £27,000 - Joe Kizzi and Matt Paine have also been kept on by the club, along with former Premier League midfielder Jamie O’Hara, striker Adam Cunnington and Grenada international winger Ricky Modeste.

The nine players join Sam Deering in signing new deals, while Connor Hunte, Joe Ellul, Rickie Hayles and Callum Kennedy have all linked up with the club.

Billericay have released vice-captain Josh Urquhart ahead of next season.

The left-back, who featured in 60 matches last season including 55 starts, became a firm fans’ favourite for his performances in Town’s treble-winning campaign.

But the former Wealdstone defender has now joined National League South rivals Hampton & Richmond Borough.

A club statement said: “We would like to thank Josh for his great efforts last season and wish him the best of luck for the future.”

Billericay also scooped a number of awards at the Isthmian League Annual General Meeting awards night.

Wheeler was named Manager of the Season at the ceremony, held at The Hilton Hotel at Wembley Stadium.

Robinson, Julian, Deering and Kizzi were all named in the Team of the Year.

Following the event, Wheeler tweeted: “Great evening last night at @HiltonWembley for the football awards. Pleased to have won Manager of the Season. Great to be around so many good people from other clubs and of course ours. Really appreciate the messages. Thank you.”
