LEIGH captain Joe Sexton is looking forward to making a first appearance of the season tomorrow afternoon.

Despite defeat in Shepherd Neame Essex League Division Two last time out, bonus points saw Leigh rise into the automatic promotion places.

They now travel to the team just three points below them in the standings - Horndon-on-the-Hill - and Sexton is targeting another points return tomorrow.

The next run of games will see a maximum of eight points awarded to the losing team.

“It is nice to pick up quite a few points despite a loss so we can take something from that,” said Sexton. “This week we have quite a few guys back, which is excellent, including myself. I have not played so far this season so am looking forward to it.

“We know how strong Horndon can be and we will need to reach our levels to win.

“This part of the season is important and the bowling attack needs to be on point.”

Wickford welcome struggling Harlow looking to extend their recent impressive form of just one defeat in four matches.

And captain Andy Baker believes the next group of matches could be key when it comes to establishing position in the table.

“There is nothing in the table at the moment and the next nine matches are crucial,” he said. “The points difference is big and a win could be very significant in this spell. It is all to play for and a couple of wins will be key.

“Harlow will be tough but we always back ourselves.”
