ROOKIE Mason Law posted his best British Superbike Championship weekend to date after scoring points in both races at Snetterton last weekend.

Benfleet rider Law secured 12th and 13th placed finishes aboard his GR Motosport prepared Team WD-40 Kawasaki.

But he remains positive ahead of the next meeting in a fortnight.

“It was a busy weekend as always, but a very solid weekend for us as a team,” he said. “Although my honest opinion is we are all a little disappointed as we believed there were single figure positions to be had in the races.

“I couldn’t quite capitalise in the temperatures, which meant we had to use the SC1 tyre. We knew for us it was the slower tyre and it honestly took me a bit longer than I should have to adapt to it. I prefer the SC0 for corner entry grip but, on the positive side, I was very consistent with my lap times. In race two especially it took me a little too long to get going.”

Law started well in the first race, avoiding a crash only for the safety car to be deployed. But failure to adapt to the SC1 rear tyre meant he lost a few positions when the race started again.

“I settled in towards the end of the race and caught a few of the guys in front and finished 12th, which we were very happy with,” said Law. “In race two, we started from 16th and it wasn’t until the closing stages of the race that I managed to get back on terms with them. I ended the race 13th and I suppose if you’d said before the weekend that we would come away with these results at Snetterton, I’d have shook your hand.”

Looking ahead, he concluded: “It’s certainly very positive and shows where we are at, at the minute, and how positive we all are as a team. But we are expecting more now.”

The next round of the British Superbike Championship takes place at Knockhill on July 6/7/8.
