SAM Mantom is expected to complete a move back to Southend United today and defender Harry Lennon is also close to joining.
Mantom impressed while on loan at the Shrimpers from Scunthorpe United at the end of last season.
And the midfielder - who made seven appearances during his spell - is now returning to Roots Hall on a permanent basis.
Mantom underwent a medical with Blues earlier this week and is expected to put pen to paper before the weekend.
Mantom will become the Shrimpers’ third signing of the summer, following in the footsteps of Sam Barratt and Tom Hopper.
Blues are also set to complete the signing of Charlton centre-back Lennon
Shrimpers boss Chris Powell worked with the 23-year-old during his spell in charge at the Valley and will now be reunited with him at Roots Hall.
The defender came through the youth ranks at Charlton and has made 40 appearances for the Addicks.
Lennon has also spent time on loan with Cambridge United and Gillingham.
