SOUTHEND United striker Theo Robinson will be aiming to show blonds have more fun this season.

Robinson - who scored the Shrimpers’ second goal in Saturday’s 3-2 defeat against Doncaster Rovers - sported a bright new hair cut for the start of the season.

And the forward is focusing on securing even more highlights during the months ahead.

“It was good to come on and get the goal and I want to get as many minutes and goals as possible this season so it was a good way to get started,” said Robinson, who finished last season with four goals in four games.

“To be honest though I would rather not have scored on Saturday and got the three points because we’re aiming high and it’s all about the team.”

Robinson fired home from close range in the closing stages as Blues attempted to fight back from three goals down at Roots Hall.

But the striker has already set his sights on bouncing back against Plymouth Argyle this weekend.

“I thought we actually played well at the weekend so that’s the positive to take from it but we have to focus on the Plymouth game now,” said Robinson.

“Plymouth lost at the weekend so it has the makings of a cracking game but we’re determined to get the win.”

And Robinson is also keen to start against the Pilgrims after making a positive impact off the bench.

“Of course I want to start, everyone does but it’s up to the manager,” said the 29-year-old.

“We have competition for places all over the pitch so it’s good we’re all pushing for places and I’m sure that will bring the best out of everyone.”

Robinson earned his first start under Chris Powell after impressing the manager as a substitute at Plymouth last season.

But the striker will be heading back to Home Park sporting a new look which has been ridiculed by his team-mates.

“I’ve been getting a lot of banter about it but I think it looks good so that’s all that matters,” said Robinson.

“People have been calling me Theo Cisse but I had a mad off-season for personal reasons and just thought why not.

"It’s actually the same hair-style my mum has always had too so I guess I just copied her!”
