My 2018/19 season following Billericay Town kicked off with my longest away trip in my 10 or more years of following the club.

Nevertheless, my Dad and I were on the road at 7am heading to Devon to see Billericay take on Truro City at Torquay United’s ground.

On arrival at around 12:30pm, we headed into town and met up with other Town fans in a local Wetherspoons, before arriving at Plainmoor an hour before kick-off.

After having a pretty good cheeseburger in the Boots & Laces clubhouse, we headed into the ground.

The Billericay fans were ordered to sit in the away section of the main stand, with Truro supporters on the other side of the stand and Torquay season ticket holders in the middle.

I have to say out of the 362 in attendance, Billericay may have only occupied around 60 of those but didn’t stop singing for the entire 90 minutes.

Jake Robinson put on an incredible display of finishing and the team a brilliant overall performance, resulting in a 4-0 win - Jake Robinson scoring all four.

On to Tuesday night and we hosted our first league game of the season, against Essex rivals Concord Rangers.

I was especially looking forward to this game as it was a chance to show off our credentials against a very well organised team.

Talking to Concord media officer Alfie Gates prior to the game, he talked me through his predictions for the game, and they were very similar to my own.

Moving onto the game, the first half was very tightly contested, much as I thought it would be but there were no goals.

The second half saw Concord come into the game a lot more but Billericay’s fans carried on singing throughout the evening, with little reply from the 100 or so Concord Rangers supporters.

Alex Wall’s brilliant free kick gave Concord a worthy lead, but luckily for us Moses Emmanuel rescued a point in the 91st minute.

I definitely see this as a point gained against a what I believe will are an outfit.

I’m sure Sammy Moore’s men will be contesting for a play-off place all season!

I am already looking forward to the next game and I am hopeful of a positive season.
