LOOKING AHEAD: It is a big day for Basildon United as they return to the Isthmian North for the first time in 20 years.

Two decades following their relegation from the former Isthmian first division, the Bees are now back and are not looking to merely make up the numbers.

Following their FA Cup exertions last weekend, Basildon head into this clash against Mildenhall Town in a good mood.

A brace from Brian Moses ensured a 2-0 win at tricky opponents Stowmarket Town.

Mildenhall secured a 1-1 draw with Maldon & Tiptree in their opener last time out.

MANAGER’S VIEW: “We got an excellent results against Stowmarket, who were improved from last season,” said boss Marc Harrison. “I didn’t expect us to do as well as we did and it was important to play competitively before the league season started. If they can bring that into tomorrow’s game, we have every chance.

“Mildenhall didn’t end last season well but they got a good result against Maldon and I have watched videos of their performances.

“For us, we have the unknown factor in our favour. We were underestimated in the Essex Senior League last year and it threw people. We want to have the same impact this season.

“I am not nervous at all. I love doing what we do and a good start is important. Getting early points could be significant.”
