NORMAN Wabo bagged the only goal of the game as Southend United’s under 23 team triumphed 1-0 at Leyton Orient this afternoon.
The striker netted a well-taken effort in a friendly at Brisbane Road and coach Kevin Maher was full of praise for his side’s display.
“I was very pleased with the performance,” said Maher.
“Last week against Stevenage we struggled at times against the more senior players but that didn’t happen here.
“The team had a good shape and Norman took his goal well too so it was a good day all round.”
Blues’ under 23 will be back in action when they host Oxford United in the Premier League Cup at Roots Hall next Wednesday evening.
