SOUTHEND United are looking to build on their League One survival - both on and off the pitch next season.

The Shrimpers saw off Sunderland on the final day of the previous campaign to avoid relegation.

And Blues’ head of commercial Rhys Ellingham is keen for the club’s fans to remain right behind the team at Roots Hall as they bid to finish far higher up the table.

“Last season wasn’t the season anyone expected or wanted but to finish with a result like that to secure our League One status was unbelievable,” said Ellingham.

“One thing I can say from last season was what a credit our fanbase are to the club, travelling up and down the country in numbers and cheering Blues on from Roots Hall.

“The last game of the season brought everyone together and it’s given us a platform to hopefully build on for next season, on and off the pitch.”

Blues have announced that season card prices will be frozen for a fourth year in succession.

And Ellingham is hopeful supporters will continue to snap up their up their seats for the forthcoming campaign.

“We had over 3,800 season card holders during the 2018/19 season and we want to try and surpass that figure next year,” said Ellingham.

“We have currently sold over 2,350 season cards and hope people will continue to buy them.

“The support was vital last season to keep us in League One and the result against Sunderland AFC will certainly be a day to remember for a long time.”

Current season card holders have until Sunday June 16 to keep their current seat.
