Blues to face non league opposition in FA Cup

SOUTHEND United have been drawn away to either Northwich Victoria or AFC Telford in the first round of the FA Cup.

The two non league sides met on Saturday in the fourth qualifying round but the match was abandoned at half-time due to an electrical failure with Northwich leading 1-0 at the time.

As of yet no new date has been confirmed for the game to be replayed, which will hold up Blues knowing who their opponents will be in this year's first round.

Northwich Victoria are currently third from bottom in the Blue Square Premier and sacked their manager Dino Maamria on Thursday.

Meanwhile, AFC Telford play in the Blue Square North where they are currently fifth in the table.

First round matches are scheduled to take place over the weekend of November 8.

Grays Athletic have been drawn away to League One Carlisle United.
