Debut fight success for Dean Walton and Warren Root

Two boxers from a Southend gym have won their debut fights.

Dean Welton and Warren Root from the Locker Room, based at Southend Central Station, claimed the victory at a tournament in London.

The Locker Room opened in October and has two more boxers, Paul Jackaman and Jamie Lee Jones, fighting on April 24.

Founder James Chisholm said: “People come to a gym for an experience, not a workout and they need to leave feeling motivated, both physically and mentally.

“For a few minutes in our members day, boxing instills escapism from the real world and a desire to reach a goal that nobody sees but you. We are there to keep their hearts pumping, adrenaline flowing and spirits soaring.”
