Benfleet skipper Paul Tremain is keen to press home his team’s advantage when third-placed Belhus visit Woodside Park tomorrow.
The leaders beat second-placed Stanford by four wickets last week and Tremain want to keep up his team’s unbeaten run.
“I thought they were a good side when we played them earlier in the season and they have got more games under their belt now,” said Tremain.
“We will not be taking them lightly, but we have to go out a drive home out advantage now because two or three defeats could change everything.”
Andy Prophet is expected to be available again, but Tremain may go with an unchanged side.
Belhus are third in the table and will be keen to get revenge for their defeat earlier in the season by being the first league team to beat Benfleet this season.
“I’m looking to get some decent points from the game whether we win lose or draw,” said Belhus captain Richard Day.
“We are not scared of them. We know what they have got and they know what we have as a team.”
Southend are at the bottom of the table following their 98-run defeat to fellow strugglers Woodford Green and will be hoping for better luck away to eight-placed Ongar.
Skipper Wayne Spear is struggling to put out a team as player unavailability due to holidays begins to bite. But he is determined to attempt to salvage something from a disappointing season.
“We will keep on plugging away and hope we can get a few points and good performances along the way,”Spear said.
“No-one likes losing and our luck might change, but the main thing is we are still looking to be competitive.”
Stanford le Hope are second in the table and travel to Old Parkonians, who are seventh.
Other fixtures: Old Brentwoods v Epping, Woodford Gn v West Essex.
