Views on the Blues: Fans letters

AFTER watching Blues against Wycombe I felt utterly downhearted.

I’ve been a season ticket holder in recent years, but didn’t renew because of Friday night football.

But I’m getting happier that I didn’t now after Saturday.

With the exception of the legend Adam Barrett and maybe (arguably) Frank Moussa, no-one on the pitch seemed bothered about winning.

It was like the bad old days, before Tilly came along.

There was no movement, the player on the ball had limited options and there was a general indifference to winning tackles.

I’m glad to see that Jean-Francois Christophe has lost his place.

He was OK at first but now he’s hopeless and needs to know that he should be fighting for a place.

But I wonder if he is.

The same goes for most of the other players, who, because of a paucity of talent at Roots Hall, are keeping their places by default.

Just make sure you stay fit and away from suspension, lads, or you could be next on the bench — if you really care.

Steve Tilson and Paul Brush have worked miracles to keep Blues at mid table, but I think the fans are beginning to question Ron Martin’s motives.

If and when the Fossetts Farm saga is over, will we see him heading off into the sunset? A lot of us think so.

SO here we go again, the club is going to trot out all the old cliches “Can’t stand in the players way”, “He wants to play at a higher level”, “Sad to see him go”.

What’s really sad is letting your in-form striker (Lee Barnard) go for a low fee of £175,000.

The Saints should have been made to pay a better price for a League One leading goal scorer.

It’s so disappointing to always see good Southend players being snatched from us.

I’m certain that the club’s financial problems have coloured Barney’s advisors opinions.

I only hope for Barney’s sake that he still get regular football and isn’t sitting on the bench most of the time.

As for Southend, I now worry where the goals are coming from. Let’s be clear... apart from an odd goal of late most goals came from the £175,000 bargain.

You might even say that if more goals had come from midfield this season and if Barney’s tally had been halved he would still be a Southend player today.

Also the comment that he could have walked out at the end of the season on a “free”, well £175,000 isn’t going to pay for the white pitch marking for a season.

So to all Southend fans: don’t get to attached to any of our players, they just leave.

RON Martin sings a good song on television, but when it comes to reality things are not quite the same, are they? Among other things we still await RM’s Blog regarding “The Consortium”!

Steve Tilson’s luck is finally running out and is not helped by an indifferent attitude towards some of his players and some strange tactics. He seems to find it difficult to motivate the players which reflected by some inane comments that are made during both pre and post-match interviews.

There has been little to cheer the fans this year and the sound fan base the club has recently built up will be surely lost if relegation is not to be averted.

Crucial positions in the team have been filled with a procession of inadequate loan players. The problems at centre-back and the loss of our leading goal scorer could have been avoided with proper planning. With Jean Yves M’Voto likely to be out at least for another three weeks, plus the lack of creativity and firepower within the team, it is time for Ron Martin and co to make the most of the remaining days of the transfer window. Failure to do so would mean relegation will be more certain than England winning the world cup.

IT has been claimed that “the Board will sell any player to get a few pounds in the bank” and that “we will exist on free transfers, playing youth team players and loan signings for a good while yet”.

Unfortunately, this is how it is at the moment in addition to the other unwanted obstacles which have blighted the club this past year.

How is this Steve Tilson’s fault? He has to work within these realms and has done so without moaning and groaning.

Steve has done a good job in these circumstances.

Tilson’s hardly going to pull many rabbits out of the hat with the troubles he’s had to face.

Stockport County actually went into administration and are bottom of the table, so I suppose their manager is to blame for this...

Of course he isn’t.

It doesn’t take much to realise it is very hard to motivate in these situations and maybe you would wish to trade places with Stockport.

Taking into account the positions of the two clubs in the league, I know which one I’d take.

After all we have hope, something the supporters of Stockport wished they had more of right now.

I very much doubt somebody else could come in and suddenly take us to the summit.

Not in times such as these.

Steve is not to blame for this — it’s how it is. So imagine what you would do in his shoes taking into account the present climate.

When your hands are literally tied every which way and players turning down moves to our club.

I have never, ever heard or seen Steve Tilson so dispondent and downhearted, does he even know worse news than we do ?
All the comments by supporters this week have been more than fair, and pretty accurate at the plight of the Blues.......which have been obvious for most of this season.
Straight talking and actions from the Board are now necessary if anything can be salvaged playing wise or morale wise.Does anyone really know how the club has got into the state it has been and is ?. "sound financial planning " doesn't feature !

I agree with Barnet Shrimper. How we can play with one up front when we don't have a striker that can play that role and no wingers and only one centre back.
