Thurrock go into tonight’s Blue Square South home clash with Woking knowing that time is running out if they are to relaunch their play-off bid in the club’s best ever season.

Fleet have seen their progress marred by three straight defeats that have seen them fall to ninth in the table — although they do have games in hand on all the teams above them.

In the Ryman Premier, Billericay Town’s 2-1 home defeat at the hands of fellow relegation strugglers Margate was a heavy blow on Saturday and they badly need some reward from tonight’s difficult trip to Ruislip Manor to take on a Wealdstone side just outside the play-off positions.

Canvey cannot afford too many more setbacks following Saturday’s 3-1 demise at Tonbridge Angels if they are to figure in the play-offs themselves.

They are currently five points off the top five and will not find it easy at Wembley against Hendon this evening.

Aveley are looking good bets to quickly reach the points total that would ensure their Premier status and could pick up another boost tonight when they visit Cray Wanderers, three places and points behind them from three games more.

In Ryman One North, Concord Rangers, who have taken just two points from their last three games, badly need to win at Thames Road against Waltham Forest if they are to continue as favourites for runners-up spot behind title favourites Lowestoft.

East Thurrock United are Concord’s nearest rivals now and will be fancied for another three points tonight at Ware.

Great Wakering Rovers will have striker Neil Richmond making his 200th appearance for the club at Aveley tonight when Romford provide the opposition.

In the Essex Senior League this evening, Basildon Utd host Hullbridge Sports while Bowers and Pitsea entertain leaders Burnham Ramblers.
