CANVEY Island's fading Ryman Premier play-off hopes suffered another massive blow last night when they lost 1-0 at AFC Hornchurch.
It was Gulls' third away defeat in a hectic six-day spell and the Bridge Avenue side scored the only goal in a poor game in the closing stages of the opening half.
In the Essex Senior League, Bowers and Pitsea won the new town derby at Crown Avenue with a 1-0 success over Basildon United.
