GRAYS Athletic's relegation from the Blue Square Premier may be a near certainty, but they're not going without a fight.
They fought back from a 2-0 half-time deficit to draw 2-2 at fellow relegation candidates Eastbourne Borough.
In Blue Square South, Thurrock boosted their fading play-off hopes with a 2-1 home success over a Newport County side who clinched the title in midweek.
Aveley are very much the team of the moment in Ryman Premier. They saw off Boreham Wood 2-0 at home to move ever-closer to a play-off position.
After a bad week in which they lost three times on their travels, Canvey Island came from behind to beat Tooting and Mitcham 2-1 at home.
A first-half Paul Vines goal for the visitors was levelled by Gabriel Fanibuyan's superb strike after the break.
And skipper Richard Halle bundled home Jay Curran's left-wing cross to bring the three points to Gulls in the 90th minute.
Billericay Town, who visit Canvey on Tuesday night, gave their hopes of beating the drop another massive lift with a 2-0 win at Horsham.
