Judd completes clean sheet

CANVEY'S international schoolgirl runnning star Jessica Judd completed a clean sweep of every major cross-country title open to her this season when she won the intermediate girls' crown at the Avia English Schools' Championships at wet and muddy Heaton Park, Manchester.

Jessica, 15 a student at Castle View School and member of Chelmsford AC, triumphed by 22 seconds in a time of 13 minutes dead.

And FitzWimarc, Rayleigh's Sophie Riches, who also runs for Chelmsford, led the Essex squad to team gold in the junior girls' race by finishing fourth.

The county's six-strong scoring line-up also included another Fitz pupil, Maisie Jones (29th), and two of Maisie's Basildon AC clubmates - Kaylee Dodd (106th) and Emily Bullis (143rd).
