VILLAGE side Wakering dug in from the start and planted the seeds of their success with a seventh-minute goal from Joe Gardner.

Despite a superb display from Dan Trenkel, the hosts were unable to build-on their lead before the break.

In fact it was 77 minutes before Rovers breached their defiant visitors again, top scorer Neil Richmond firing home to ensure the three points.

Ilford launched a late rally in which they hit the bar and missed other opportunities, but Wakering held firm and now stand eighth as they move towards the conclusion of their best ever season.
