JOSH Simpson is aiming for a perfect 10 after opening his Blues account during Saturday’s defeat of Torquay United.

The 23-year-old netted a stunning long-range shot against the Gulls.

And he is now keen to keep on hitting the back of the net on a more permanent basis.

“I scored 10 last year, so it would be nice to do the same again this season,” said Simpson, who is on loan at Roots Hall from Peterborough United.

“I had missed a few chances in previous matches, but they all seemed to be going to my left foot.

“Luckily this time it was on my right and it could’ve gone anywhere, so it was great to see it go in.”

Blues boss Paul Sturrock also insisted after the game that Simpson would be able to reach double figures.

But it was the win which pleased Simpson more than his goal.

“It was brilliant to get the three points and that matters the most,” he stressed.

“It was a good first half because the tempo and quality was there.

“We made it hard for ourselves in the second half but we grafted and hung on to get the win.”
