SOUTHEND United skipper Craig Easton and left-back Peter Gilbert could both be facing lengthy spells on the sidelines after picking up injuries against Lincoln City yesterday.

Gilbert limped off just before the break with an ankle injury, while Easton followed him off in the 51st minute with a calf problem.

And that concerned manager Paul Sturrock.

“Gilbert's got a nasty injury and he's gone over on his ankle quite badly,” said the former Plymouth Argyle chief.

“It's not like Easty to come off either so his injury must be bad too.

“It's the same calf he injured earlier on this season and it's frustrating but we will just have to battle on.”

The duo are yet to discover how long they will be out for but Gilbert left Sincil Bank on crutches
