JOHNNY Herd added to Southend United’s injury concerns by picking up a calf problem during Friday night’s 4-0 win over Hereford United.
The 21-year-old, who was making a rare start, limped off after just 18 minutes against the Bulls.
And he is now facing a spell on the sidelines.
“Johnny went in for a tackle and picked up what appears to be a bad calf injury,” confirmed Blues boss Paul Sturrock.
“We will have to wait and see what the X-rays show, but it means we have to bring people to this football club on loan now and we have until Wednesday to sort it out.”
Herd joins Peter Gilbert (ankle), Bilel Mohnsi (ankle), Craig Easton (calf), Mark Phillips (groin), Luke Prosser (calf) and Miguel Comminges (knee) on the sidelines, to leave Sturrock with 13 fit professional players.
