PAUL Sturrock insists he remains fully focused on Southend United’s promotion push, despite Tara Brady’s departure as chief executive.
Sturrock formed a close bond with Brady during their 13 months together at Roots Hall.
But, speaking ahead of tomorrow’s trip to his former Plymouth Argyle side, Sturrock confirmed his commitment to the club.
“Tara did a good job when he was here and I had a close relationship with him but the show must go on,” said Blues boss Sturrock.
“I’ve been involved in football a long time now and have seen a lot of changes happen during that time.
“Managers go, players go, chairmen go and so do chief executives but the reason clubs like Southend United keep going is because of the fans.
“We’ve always been focused on getting this club promoted and that aim hasn’t changed.”
Sturrock, whose side are third in the League Two table, hopes to get Blues back on track with a win at Plymouth this weekend.
And, off the pitch, he is keen to forge a successful working relationship with Brady’s successor.
“I’m sure a new chief executive will soon come in and hopefully I can get on just as well with him,” said Sturrock.
“I’d like to wish Tara all the best for his future and I’m sure everyone at the club feels the same way.
“But we have football matches to win and it’s a very important game at Plymouth.”
