BLUES boss Paul Sturrock has made four changes to his starting line-up for tonight’s clash at Gillingham with Mark Phillips returning at the heart of the back four.
The 29-year-old had missed his side’s last three matches with a groin problem but he has recovered in time to partner Chris Barker for this evening’s encounter.
He takes Bilel Mohsni’s place in defence as the Frenchman moves in to attack alongside Liam Dickinson and David Martin, who takes Ryan Hall’s place in the team.
As a result, Elliot Benyon has dropped out of the squad while Luke Prosser has been preferred to Peter Gilbert at left-back.
The final change comes in midfield where Kane Ferdinand replaces Anthony Grant who drops to the bench.
Southend United: Morris, Clohessy, Phillips, Barker, Prosser, Kalala, Ferdinand, Timlin, Mohsni, Dickinson, Martin Substitutes: Gilbert, Hall, Grant, Hall & Sampson
