Hadleigh & Thundersley picked up a very tidy 20 points with a seven-wicket win at Hornchurch.

It moved them into the top four in the table and left them handily placed behind the top two promotion places.

Hadleigh put their hosts into bat and shared the wickets around to restrict Hornchurch to 176-9 off 50 overs.

Joe Robbins, Matthew Wagstaff, Ollie Wagstaff and Raghav Chopra all claimed a brace of wickets, and there were a couple of run-outs.

Then Hadleigh's Tom Phillippe continued his fine form as his knock of 83no helped them wipe out the target of 177 for victory.

And he was well supported by Joe Robbins, who made 57.

Hadleigh captain Adam Fleming said: "We were really light on bowling going into this game so it is a very pleasing result.

"Richard Revell is out for the season with shin splints, but we still bowled really well and our fielding was excellent.

"Now I'm left thinking about what would have been if our first game of the season against Southend had not been rained off.

"I'm not saying we would have definitely beaten Southend, but if we had done we would have been right up there.

"But it was a really professional performance against Hornchurch and now we'll be looking to build on that at home to Upminster next week."

SOUTHEND-ON-SEA are still looking for their first victory in the division as they lost by 146 runs at Fives & Heronians.

The hosts posted a score of 296-8 and then had Southend all out for 250.

But there was a 20-point win for ORSETT at home to Hainault & Clayhill as they knocked off the 225 they needed for victory with four wickets to spare.
