Kevan Hurst set to join Southend United

Paul Sturrock - close to signing Kevan Hurst
KEVAN Hurst is set to become Southend United’s first signing of the summer.
The 26-year-old winger has already agreed personal terms with the League Two club.
And he now just needs to pass a medical to complete a free transfer switch.
“Kevan is someone who can play on both wings and he gives us another option out wide,” said Blues boss Paul Sturrock.
“He played very well against us for Morecambe a couple of seasons ago and we’ve kept an eye on him ever since.
“We now have the opportunity to sign him and everything should hopefully be completed in the next couple of days.
“Everything has been sorted out apart from his medical and I’m sure he will be a good signing for us.”
Hurst made 37 appearances while with League One Walsall last season before being released by the Saddlers in May.
He has also previously played for Sheffield United, Boston, Stockport, Chesterfield, Scunthorpe, Carlisle and Morecambe and has made 279 career appearances.
Hurst has netted 25 goals during that time and Sturrock will now continue working hard to bring more fresh faces to the club.
