West Ham bring in teen keeper Raphael Spiegel
3:38pm Tuesday 24th July 2012 in Sport
WEST Ham have signed Switzerland under-20 international goalkeeper Raphael Spiegel.
He has been signed from Grasshopper Club Zurich for an undisclosed fee.
The 19-year-old has signed a contract until 2015 with an option for a further year.
He has also represented his country at under 17, 18 and 19 level, and played in the FIFA U17 World Cup finals in Nigeria in 2009.
His most recent international appearance saw him keep a clean sheet in a 1-0 under-20 win over Portugal in April.
The teenager, who arrived at the club’s Chadwell Heath training ground this week, is expected to provide cover for fellow summer recruits Jussi Jaaskelainen and Stephen Henderson for the Hammers’ following their promotion to the Premier League.
