SOUTHEND United manager Paul Sturrock has made three changes to his starting line-up for this afternoon’s League Two opener against Acrrington Stanley.

Midfielder Michael Timlin has been handed a shock start in the centre of the park after recovering from a shoulder problem while Britt Assombalonga goes straight in to the attack after signing on loan from Watford.

He is partnered by Gavin Tomlin as both Elliot Benyon and Neil Harris drop to the bench, along with Anthony Straker as Luke Prosser remains at left-back.

But there is no place in the squad for Freddy Eastwood who has failed to recover from a calf problem.

Southend United: Belford, Clohessy, Phillips, Barker, Prosser, Leonard, Ferdinand, Timlin, Hall, Tomlin, Assombalonga

Substitutes: Straker, Cresswell, Harris, Hurst, Bentley, Spicer & Benyon

I am only reading text of the match from afar, but it seems to me that we just cant kick the **** ball in the goal.....over the top...wide to the left...it would read better if it said Accringtons goalie made a good save....10 minutes to go and I fear we wont even get a **** point.....c'mum Sturrock..you gotta do better at home, at least!
