Stephen Brogan joins Guiseley after Southend United end their interest

Stephen Brogan - joined Guiseley
STEPHEN Brogan has joined Blue Square North side Guiseley.
The winger impressed for Southend United during pre-season.
But boss Paul Sturrock insisted it was more important for him to strengthen other areas of his squad.
“Stephen was one that we were chatting to but is his position one we really had to fill?” questioned Sturrock.
“He has great potential but at this moment in time we have a lot of players in that kind of position so that is the way I look at it.
“I think we’re short in other areas if I’m honest, most notably up front with Barry Corr out injured and also in central midfield so I think we need to bring in people in those positions rather than on the wing.”

If Sturrock did not need a winger, why keep Brogan hanging around for so long.
Some of his transfer moves are distinctly bizarre at the moment with Paul Smith signed just after poor old Belford was summoned back. He will presumably now be cast off again.
I hope that Sturrock sorts himself out quickly as he does not appear to have any clear strategy either about the players he wants, or how they should play..
