Southend's Robin Womack celebrates bronze medal in Paralympic shot put

SOUTHEND'S Robin Womack set a new personal best of 11.34m to win a bronze medal in the Paralympic Games shot put today.

The wheechair bound 41-year-old was second in the standings at the half way stage of the competition.

But he was perfectly happy to settle for bronze.

"I'm just so pleased to have got a medal and it shows I'm still rocking at 41," said the keen Southend United fan.

"I couldn't sleep last night and I was really annoyed because I thought both Kane Ferdinand and Ryan Hall were going to leave Blues.

"But thankfully I was able to go out and get a medal and I couldn't be happier."

Womack will receive his medal at the Olympic Stadium at 7.27pm tonight.
