Southend United's Mark Phillips out for revenge at Cheltenham Town

Mark Phillips - seeking revenge Mark Phillips - seeking revenge

SOUTHEND United defender Mark Phillips will use last season’s disappointment at Whaddon Road to spur himself on against Cheltenham Town tomorrow.

Blues suffered a 3-0 reverse against the Robins in December 2011.

And that disappointing drubbing will be in the back of the 30-year-old's mind this weekend.

“Cheltenham did us on their patch last season quite convincingly,” said Phillips.

“That will be in the back of the players' minds who were here last season.

“Cheltenham went on to make the play-offs and are a top team but we are looking forward to the challenge of playing against them.

Blues will be hoping to make it five games without defeat and Phillips has been pleased by the start his side have made to the season.

“Even though we lost the first game I think it has been a good start,” said Phillips.

“I knew our luck would turn at some point, as I knew we weren’t far off.

“We spoke about doing our jobs properly and grinding out results and as you can see we won three in the last week so hopefully we can keep it going now.

A little lucky at Cheltenham..........
.......but WELL DONE Blues, who stuck at it especially after the first 30minutes. I was there.!
But beware..............
.again, the "defenders" are not the fastest ones around and could well be taken apart by speedy attackers, and the midfield needs attention or two replacements.
Looking forward to tuesday !
