Canvey Island Rugby Club start season with defeat (From Echo)

CANVEY Island started life in London Three North East with a 41-12 defeat at home to Upminster.

The Islanders were relegated from London Two North East last term and were unable to kick-off the new campaign with a win.

But it was a much better afternoon for South Woodham Ferrers as they won 39-8 at Sudbury.
