Westcliff Rugby Club ready to face Dorking challenge
10:00am Friday 12th October 2012 in Sport By Chris Phillips
WESTCLIFF'S first team manager Rick Compton knows his team will be in for a tough test at third-placed Dorking in National Three London & SE tomorrow.
Westcliff will go into the game on the back of two successive wins.
But Compton is fully aware how hard it will be to extend the winning sequence this weekend.
“We’re facing a daunting task against Dorking as they’re among the early pace-setters at the top of the division,” said Compton.
“They’ve won five and lost just one of their fixtures to date and four of those games were against sides in the top half of the table.
“Last season we visited Dorking at a similar stage and were very well beaten but we are confident of doing better this year.
“We feel we can now compete with the top teams in the league and go into the game in good shape after winning our last two games.”
Westcliff, who are eighth in the table, have no new injury concerns for the clash and expect to have Rupert Edwards back in the squad.
Thurrock are also in action as they travel to bottom-of-the-table Staines.
Thurrock have lost their last two games but will be confident of getting back on track against a Staines side who have lost all five of their games so far this term.
