Rochford Hundred host Basildon in crunch local derby

ROCHFORD Hundred host Basildon in a crunch London One North derby clash tomorrow.

Both teams have just triumphed just once in seven games so far this season.

And Rochford’s first team manager Graham Pratt is therefore expecting a keenly fought contest at Magnolia Road this weekend.

“We know it will be a very competitive affair as it always is when we play them but there is an extra edge this time due to our respective positions in the league,” said Pratt.

“We have had the advantage of playing in this division on and off for three seasons now but that will mean little on the day.

“The match could also be won and lost in the attitude of the players on the day.

“But we are expecting a large turnout from both clubs and weather forecast looks fair so bring it on!”

Basildon, who were promoted from London Two North East last season, are currently second from bottom in the table, with Rochford one place and two points above them.

In London Three North East, Canvey Island will be bidding for a third straight win when they host fifth placed Beccles while South Woodham Ferrers, who are second in the standings, travel to second from bottom Harlow.

In Essex One, Billericay face a tough task at unbeaten league leaders Dagenham while, in Essex Two, Pegasus Palmerians host Ilford Wanderers and Stanford le Hope are at home to May & Baker.
