The Square Lake anglers at the Warren are having an excellent time with all species as the mild spell continues.
C Hicks landed a superb common carp of 24lb and pike of 20lb and 21lb were landed on Thursday and Saturday.
Although the weather is mild the water is still quite cold and feeder and pole anglers are catching more carp on small baits such as corn and maggot, rather than the more traditional summer baits used by dedicated carp anglers.
The performance of the week has to go to the pole fishing dynamic duo of Stan Howard and Dave Hemmings, who between them landed around 80lb of fish on Thursday.
Hemmings, fishing with a 3lb hooklength and a size 20 hook, landed three carp between 8lb and 12lb, as well as losing four other carp.
Complementing his catch was a superb net of roach up to 12oz plus some nice perch.
Howard, fishing a 1lb hooklength and a size 20 hook using a single pinkie, caught around 15lb of roach up to 12oz plus some nice F1 hybrids up to 5lb in weight.
Juniors Mitchell Seaman and Joshua Wright from Linford had a nice bag of quality roach using pole fished maggot and caster on Saturday.
The main lake saw lots of small pike coming out alongside some larger fish.
Steve Moss fished the beach area and took a lovely conditioned fish weighing 20lb 4oz.
And P White landed pike of 18lb and 13lb, while Steve Perkins also had a brace with the best fish weighing 21lb 13oz.
A FAMILY'S pet dog has been killed in a fierce house blaze in Pitsea. Four crews rushed to the scene of the fire, in Wythefield, at about 4pm. While making a search of the family home firefighters pulled out two greyhound dogs. But one of the dogs had already died from smoke inhilation.
